Settings and scenes include the 2nd century Ajanta cave-temples, a traditional thangka painting studio in the remote village of Dzogchen, a ceremonial vajra dance at the Dzogchen Sakya monastery, a post-mortem bardo ceremony and Tibetan sky burial at the 4,400 meter high Yarchen Gar monastery and nunnery, philosophical debates at Gelupa monastery’s, Tibetan New Year’s Cham dances and giant thangka unveilings at Labrang monastery, and a visual passage through the 15th century, multi-storied Kumbum temple in Gyantse.
